A love of gardening

Welcome to

Friern Barnet Allotments

Growing our own fresh fruit and vegetables is at the heart of our Allotment Association. We are lucky in managing two large sites in North London which offer sunny, open growing spaces on rich London clay. With over 260 members we are proud to welcome people from all over the world, bound together by a love of gardening.

Who we are

We were set up as an allotment association back in 1923, when then demand for ordinary people to have a space to grow their own food after the First World War was at its height. Now we are a thriving Industrial and Friendly Society (a Co-Op) which welcomes people from all over the world to speak the common language of growing food. We are managed by a voluntary committee of members and run a Trading Hut for members to buy seeds, compost and other useful items to aid their growing.

Where we are

Our two sites are on either side of Crescent Road, London N11. The larger site, Crescent Road, fronts on to The Crescent and ends along the railway cutting. The smaller site, Hatley Close, is enclosed within houses just off Friern Barnet Lane.
